Foundations

Protection · Predictability · Regulation

What & Why

The Foundations pathway supports pupils who are not yet emotionally ready to access shared learning. These pupils may be experiencing acute anxiety, trauma responses, medical fragility or significant dysregulation. At this stage, protection and predictability come first.

Our Approach

Adults act as co-regulators, offering calm proximity rather than supervision or control. Learning is adapted to emotional readiness rather than age-based expectations. This is not isolation — it is protection while regulation is carefully and compassionately built.

Timetable Focus

  • Regulation and safety above all else
  • Therapeutic input woven throughout the day
  • Short, manageable learning opportunities
